Covert notes are protected by encryption and saved locally and on the Microsoft cloud SkyDrive. The encryption/decryption algorithm used is AES, Advanced Encryption Standard. A single password with attendant hint allows for creating, viewing and editing notes. The password, in addition to being encrypted, is also protected by hacker-resistant mechanism PBKDF2.
